CAL Street Sealing and Striping Project
Neighbors,
Please review the attached slides that were presented in the July 14 HOA meeting on the Seal & Stripe project. It is important that you study the map to see what days you may need to relocate your car to get out of the neighborhood. Also remember that if you leave, you may need to park somewhere else when you return.
Please plan ahead!
Also, for homeowners who will be gone during the project, please make arrangements to have your sprinklers shut off per the information in the slides. The roads cannot be sealed if they are wet. Homeowners are responsible to make sure their sprinklers do not cause delays.
The scheduling of the project is weather dependent. Please look for updates that will be sent as the project progresses. The map shows the areas of road that will be sealed each day. Dates have not been assigned because rain will cause delays. So please read updates carefully.
We realize that this project will impact us all. However, if we all work together, we can complete this project successfully. We appreciate everyone's cooperation.
Please check your email for additional updates on this project.
Updates
Neighbors,
Please remember that we will start the street sealing project this Monday, July 28. You should expect partial road closures starting Monday and extending through August 5.
Please try to park within the community. Berwick Property Owners Association (BPOA) will allow us to use a limited number of parking spaces at Lakeside Park. You can use the gate by the gazebo to enter the community.
However, if our parking creates issues, that permission may be withdrawn. So please use that location as a last resort. Neither the BPOA nor the CAL HOA will be responsible for any damages incurred there; you park there at your own risk.
Chatham County indicated that they will patrol that parking area next week.
Again, please review the information in the July 19 email and plan ahead.
We know that we can count on your cooperation.
And please don't forget about your sprinklers. 😁
Thank you,
CAL BOD
Neighbors,
Evans Asphalt will be in our neighborhood today to fill cracks in the street.
We've been told that the cracks that get sealed need about 1 hour to dry. The stuff is put on at 375 degrees and needs to cool to the ambient temperature. Then can be driven on.
The workers from Evans Asphalt have said that they spray a chemical on the repaired (filled) cracks so that after about 10 minutes, the tar won't stick to tires.
Just passing that along.
The actual sealing of the streets is still scheduled to start one week from today on July 28.
Thank you,
CAL BOD
Updates & General Information:
- Evan's standard workday is from 8AM to 5PM.
- Please be familiar with all the information presented in the slides in the July 14 meeting. Those slides are attached in this email. Questions from that meeting are also attached.
- Turn off any sprinkler that might hit the street the day before your area will be sealed.
- Plan ahead! Know the current schedule and location of work areas per the map that has been provided. Plan for the day a road is sealed plus for the 24 hours needed for curing.
- Check your emails daily for updates from the BOD. Please remember that the schedule can change due to weather and other unexpected factors.
- Remember that if you leave the neighborhood, you may need to park in a different location when you return.
Parking:
- You may park on a street only if no work is performed on that street for that day.
* Everyone must park on the same side of the street.
Please make sure the vehicles in your driveway do not block the sidewalk so that the golf carts can get through the entire neighborhood.
Golf Cart Rides:
In an effort to assist residents during this project, a Golf Cart Team has been organized to provide rides between homes and areas where residents are parked during those times their driveway is not accessible. Please keep in mind the intent of offering golf cart rides is to assist those residents who would have difficulty walking between their home and street parking spot. Golf cart drivers can be called for rides between 7:30am and 5:30pm on project workdays according to the following schedule:
Workday 1: Dan Cook (912-429-4696) or Chris Eiseman (912-712-8524)
Workday 2: Dan Cook (912-429-4696) or Beverly Long (912-660-7478)
Workday 3 and 4: Patti Smead (561-289-3533), Jack Smead (561-665-0686) or Larry Longo (912-346-6856)
Workday 5: Chris Eiseman (912-712-8524) or Ella Mae Rayner (912-650-9072)
Workday 6: Chris Eiseman (912-712-8524) or Beverly Long (912-660-7478)
The actual date of each workday will be provided and updated by the BOD. Special arrangements can be made for residents who have critical appointments by calling Larry Longo at least one day BEFORE the appointment. Residents who find themselves within a work area with their car blocked in the driveway can be provided with a golf cart ride to the Clubhouse or other location within CAL where they can call an uber or friend to provide a ride to destinations outside the community.
